Learning from mistakes.

“We learn from our mistakes,” is a common phrase.
Though we are afraid to make mistakes; afraid to learn, afraid of the process.
Afraid of failure.
Failure is a common human condition, though when it happens we are somehow surprised.
It isn’t something many of us can handle gracefully.
Sometimes when it happens it’s okay to grieve for a possibility cancelled out.
It can feel like a sort of loss, even if we didn’t lose anything. Even if we didn’t have it to begin with.
However the sooner we let go of that possibility, another one will come open to us.
Letting go releases you from clinging to that which is no longer workable. You can’t catch new possibilities with your hands still full of stones from the past.

Some of us due to fear of failure decide to wait for the “the perfect time.”
We wait and wait.
Wait until I finish “this”… Maybe I’ll start next week, month, year… I’m not ready now.
But the problem is we wait too long.
It’s like we are in an open cage; not captured but also not exactly free.
If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready,we shall never begin.
If you don’t start at the moment you won’t be able to.
Life has no traffic lights; you’ll never know when to start, get ready or stop.
Stop asking yourself questions;it’s risky business; it only fuels your doubts.
And when you doubt your power, you give power to your doubts.
The best way to gain self confidence is to do what you’re afraid to do.

If you are going to do anything quit making excuses and quit waiting for the right time.
We often want it so badly that we ruin it before it begins. Over thinking. Fantasizing. Imagining. Expecting. Worrying. Doubting. Just let it naturally evolve.
Sometimes the fear won’t go away so you’ll have to do it afraid.
Sometimes you have to do it alone.
Don’t get mad when no one supports you; some can’t even support themselves.
I’m not going to lie and say that I am not a victim of fear. If anything I’m the biggest victim.
I learnt though that fear is only as deep as the mind allows.
Fear is what traps and encapsulates us; tying us down and stops us from doing what we want.

Then there’s hope; this is what makes people stronger everyday; sometimes it’s all that people cling to.
Hope is not pretending that troubles don’t exist. It is hope that they won’t last forever.
Never wait. Life goes faster than you think.
Time’s short;if you don’t do things you deep down want to, there’ll be no other time.
You may escape reality but you can never escape time.
I know how exhausting it is to keep standing when there’s a seat nearby; – don’t be afraid to seize your opportunities and make the best out of them.
You can think about it,turn them over in your mind a million times, play all possible scenarios, but really when it comes to it you have to follow your heart and move forward.
Maybe things will go well or turn out poorly.
But you can’t have a safety net for every risk you take, it’s not much of a risk, is it?
Take the risk. Take the pain.
Go for the things you are passionate about.

You got to love the struggle just as much as you love the reward.
I’m no fortune teller that I assure you,but what I know is that things work out eventually it doesn’t have to be exactly as you planned.
And as much as people tell us things,we have to go out there make our own mistakes and learn from them.
It’s true what they say; experience is the best teacher.
How else will you know what needs cleaning up if you don’t stand in your own mess?
Half the moments I used to call mistakes, became my greatest life lessons.
The other half are still my favorite memories.
Just like how you struggled as a child to get the answer to 2+5; stressing over, counting on your fingers, counting bottle tops even drawing down sticks just to get the right answer.
From all the mistakes you made and getting punishments from your teachers; at this time 2+5 is no longer a problem; you know the answer at first glance.
Voila!..Ladies and gentlemen, that’s how life works too.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes it’s part of the process of learning.

  2. It’s quite unfortunate that mistakes often cause the downfall of many while really they should be a wake up call for sleeping giants …nice piece.
